Log kept by Frederick A. Barker, comprised of two whaling voyages. First voyage documents the Coral (Bark) of San Francisco, mastered by Frederick A. Barker, from 19 February 1880-28 October 1880 to the West Arctic. Second voyage documents the Progress (Bark) of San Francisco, mastered by Frederick A. Barker, from 29 May 1881-12 November 1881 to the Arctic Ocean and Chukchi and Beaufort Sea. Includes descriptions of types of whales seen or taken (bowhead, gray, humpback, and killer), accidents at sea, indigenous people, and shipwrecks; and accounts and inventories of whale oil and bone; Repository also contains microfilm of the logbook (Reel 910).
